DESIGN COMMUNICATION
Below I've listed the projects I completed for the Design Communication Module in semester 1 as well as some reflections on the course.
TUTORIALS AND PROJECTS
PROJECT 2
Project 2 was my first experience with creating detailed orthographic drawings. It consisted of 7 drawings in total, which were a floor plan, section, two elevations, axonometric drawing, one-point, and two-point perspective. I found the axonometric drawing and 2-point perspective to be most challenging, however I enjoyed learning the techniques and understanding the logic behind them. I found the pre-recorded tutorials very helpful with step-by-step instructions on how to do the drawings.
PROJECT 1
This was a culmination of all the skills I learned in tutorials 1 through 4, including lettering, shading, and rendering. It also included a research component, where I got the chance to learn about a famous architect and their most prominent works. We were also instructed to pay close attention to the positioning of elements on our poster. This was a good way to prepare for the presentation board in my final project.
PROJECT 3
Project 3, from the lens of the Design Communication course, was an assessment of my ability to create orthographic drawings of an abstract model. The presentation of my drawings on a pinned-up board were also assessed. The methods I learned in Project 2 were exceptionally helpful when I had to create an exploded axonometric drawing of my model. My weakest point, as with many previous projects, was the presentation of my board, especially the lettering.
